Doin' School

We're deep in it now...preschool is in full swing!  Open House / Meet the Teacher day was Tuesday morning;  Millie started Pre-K on Wednesday; and Si joined her for his own first day on Thursday.  Some thoughts and photos on how this all played out and what I imagine our future will hold:

*  These are some confident kids...adaptable and enthusiastic.  Si, especially, burst through the door of his classroom and didn't look back.

*  They still adore each other.  I would catch Millie throwing Si little pearls of wisdom about what he could expect and where he could find her if he needed her during his school day.

*  Oh my goodness...I need to pitch a tent and just live at that place.  Seriously, we do drop off every single day at 9:00 am.  Si's day ends at noon.  Then I parade our circus back in there to pick up Millie at 1:00.  Everyday.  I spend the entire drive home trying to solve the high-level engineering problem of how to commute the two miles in anything other than the van (traffic's a bit of a nightmare) with all three kids.  Too many for biking.  Too many for a jogging stroller.  I WILL figure this out!

*  I am having some flashbacks to high school.  For the first time in a while, I am really feeling like the new girl in town.  This school is in the heart of a very established neighborhood...families are working on their fifth, sixth, seventh year of sending their children to the school.  I'm definitely the rookie...a bit confused, kind of turned-around, often standing-in-the-wrong-line-for pick-up.  Moms are friendly, though, and I'm looking forward to friendships that will be grown in this place.  For all of us.

Millie's first morning, celebrated with streamers and 'school-cake' (yummy coffee cake thing).

So excited to get this show on the road!

Oh sweetness.

Si's first morning.  He also got streamers and some surprise dunkin doughnuts from Daddy.

Places to go, things to see, teachers to charm...

Baby's First Beach Trip & Ballgame

We are frantically hanging on to the last minutes of summer and packing in some family adventures.  Hannah is a bit more mobile...heck, I'm a bit more mobile...so we're taking advantage of the weather and the area to make some memories.

On Saturday we braved the ridiculous ordeal known as "taking three kids to the beach".  Photos of "Camp Greer":

Slightly embarrassing...that's A LOT of stuff for one family for just a few hours!

Christopher is hilarious.  He made our lunches and sweetly labeled the sandwiches.  He's pushing the kids in the double jogging stroller.  I've got Hannah attached to me in her sling.  He's so great.

Last night we took Norfolk's new light rail train to a Norfolk Tides baseball game.  It all went remarkable smoothly.

Simon had just exclaimed "Woo Hoo...I WUV the twain!"

I love him so much.  This perfectly captures his squirrely little personality.

Fun family photo.  You can almost see the sugar coursing through their veins.  We caved to dipping dots, lemonade, and cotton candy.
